White Coat Ceremony
At Doctors’ Free Clinic of Citrus County, we have always believed that every volunteer who walks through our doors carries a spark — a quiet promise of the good they will bring into the world. Today, we celebrate one of those sparks shining brightly.
Sofia left us in June of 2026 and has officially received her White Coat Ceremony and the Golden Stethoscope Award, marking a beautiful milestone in her medical school journey. This honor recognizes not only academic excellence, but compassion, integrity, and a commitment to patient care — qualities Sofia lived every day at our clinic.
As our Intake Specialist and Receptionist, Sofia was the first face our patients saw. She greeted every person with kindness, steadiness, and a genuine desire to help. She learned their stories, eased their worries, and made our clinic feel like a place of safety and dignity. Her presence was a gift to our team and to the community we serve.
We miss her deeply — her energy, her reliability, her laughter in the reception area — but we could not be more proud of the path she is walking. Sofia carries the heart of DFCCC with her into every classroom, every clinical rotation, and every future patient encounter.
We wish her great success as she continues her journey toward becoming a physician. Her white coat is not just a symbol of her future — it is a reflection of the compassion she has already shown.

Bryan Fisher Off to Med School
When Doctors’ Free Clinic of Citrus County first opened its doors, we were powered by hope, determination, and a handful of extraordinary volunteers who believed in our mission before the world even knew our name. Among those early pillars was Bryan Fisher — our Intake Specialist, our Receptionist, our right arm, and one of the kindest souls to ever serve our patients.
Today, with full hearts and tremendous pride, we celebrate Bryan as he begins his journey to medical school.
Bryan was there from the very beginning — greeting patients, calming worries, organizing intake, and helping us build the foundation of a clinic that would go on to serve hundreds. He brought a sweetness and sincerity to every interaction, treating each patient with dignity, patience, and genuine compassion. Families trusted him. Volunteers adored him. Our clinic ran smoother because of him.
And Bryan didn’t just help run DFCCC — he helped build it. He became the developer of our website, shaping the online home that now welcomes our community, shares our mission, and connects patients to care. His creativity, reliability, and heart are woven into every page.
Bryan has always had the soul of a healer. You could see it in the way he listened, the way he encouraged, the way he made every person feel seen. Now, he carries that same spirit into the halls of medicine.
We miss him — his kindness, his steady presence, his willingness to help with anything and everything — but we are overflowing with pride. Bryan is exactly the kind of person the world needs in healthcare: compassionate, very thoughtful, humble, and driven by service.
